I see that as a bad thing for Democrats.

In the past, I have posted how major metropolitan areas that are more closely identified as strongly Democratic had more residential segregation, than metros identified as Republican. Well the results of the election are in, the the pattern remains. The large metros where the majority voted for George W. Bush tended to be less segregated (by the dissimilarity index) than those that voted for John Kerry. This holds true nationally, as well as regionally.
