My understanding is that the reps would have accountability to a geographically defined riding. The ridings would simply be larger, so that more than one MLA would be elected.

STV doesn't require enlarged ridings, so I guess they were going after better proportionality. I don't think the switch to larger ridings is an improvement.

In any case, this is an exciting time for democracy in Canada. It is only a matter of time before we see citizen's assemblies in other provinces.

Who'd have thought that anything useful would come from B.C. politics?
