Peter, I circulated your petition link to various websites.
Here are a few samples of remarks by the over 14,000 Americans who have already signed:

13792. Dave Smith: The young soldier was defending himself. We have no idea of the conditions and fears these boys face everyday. How many innocent civilians have been beheaded by these insurgents? What about the aide worker who devoted her life to help the people of Iraq--what did she get-- a bullet in the head.
13791. T M Dickinson
13790. Diane Kuhn: God Bless this Marine and all the other soldiers and sailors in this war.
13789. Stephen B. Currey
13788. Eaton Curtis: The news media should be shot for this sort of reporting.
13787. Joanne Golubski: get the media away from the troops over there and let them protect themselves
13786. Brad
13785. Peter J. O'Brien: Our Soldier's lives come FIRST!!!!!
13784. Gretchen D. Andersen: God bless our soldiers.
13783. Tim Wooters
13782. Clarence L Miller: This is WAR.
13781. JOHN WATKINS: Give him a medal for not taking a chance!
13780. Jerry Hix: It is my opinion that NOTHING should happen to this American Marine. He was just doing his job. I think the news media needs to be run out of Iraq so our soldiers can get there job done.
13779. Patricia Adams
13778. Jennifer E. Neison
13777. Anthony Moreno
13776. Sheila M Gervase-Cain: I think that it's a digrace to all of our men and women in uniforn to relieve this BRAVE MARINE OF HIS APPOINTED DUTY!
13775. Paul Lefevour
13774. Mary Ann Griffin: Support Our Troops!
13773. Colleen Tice
13772. Linda Leatherwood: I totally support our Soldiers....no one (except another Soldier) can fully understand the pressures they are put under during times of battle. Don't demoralize or dishonor them for a job they are trained to do.
13771. Cindy Taylor
13770. Bob Jones: He did the job WE sent him to do. Apologize to HIM and let him go back to his unit..provide a hot meal for him and his unit.
13769. John Parsons
13768. Troy Baker
13767. Daniel Garber
13766. Sheryl Jones: I think the press needs to be held accountable for what they are showing on TV - this could put others in harms way because Iraqs will be upset seeing an "UNARMED" man killed. We do not know the whole story - nor should we, those men fighting this war are putting their lives on the line and we HAVE TO TRUST THEM. It's time the press get some heat from their lack of patrotism and sympathy.
13765. Tom Maczynski: I was a Marine in Beirut in 1983 and was there for the bombing of BLT Headquarters. We were a peacekeeping force that never initiated offensive action yet 241 of my brethren died because people just like this enemy insurgent would do anything to kill Americans. One cannot judge, from the comfort and safety of an office chair, the actions of a Marine in the heat of combat. He did what he felt he needed to do to survive and to protect his brothers from harm.
