My reply to an SI user's email on investing.... (just MHO)

My advice:

Always understand that the NASDAQ stock exchange is the BIGGEST ORGANIZED CRIME SINDICATE IN THE WORLD! - unfortunately it's the only game in town.

Keeping that in mind.

1. NEVER buy options - unless your trading on insider information (it's ok everybody else trades on inside info. it's only the idiots that don't)

2. Never try to time the market - generally buy to hold for at least 6 - 12 months or longer (unless rule one applies)

3. "THE TREND IS YOUR FRIEND!" - Never buy a stock that's been going down because people are saying it's undervalued (unless rule one applies)
- that's generally bull shit promoted by people either (a) living in a dream world or (b) people hoping you'll buy their loser stock.

4. The investment houses are generally right - don'r buy if they are lowering estimates (unless rule one applies). As far as criminals these guys are it. Case in point - Merrill just downgraded Intel. Why in anybody's right mind would somebody downgrade Intel? Right - to buy more stock.

Good Luck.

- John
