Is this the sort of thing you have in mind, or am I off point?

What I understood him to be talking about was a message that resonates with both the left and the right regarding values. I thought he was using personal values as a descriptor or as code for Christian conservatives and social values for the value-focused blues where social values means justice and equality and taxpayer largesse to the disadvantaged.

I agree that social and personal values can be integrated. One example is the scheme I described (and invented <g>) recently that framed immorality in terms of destructiveness had both personal and social elements. But the personal values of the right and the social values of the left are both different from my scheme and wouldn't likely appeal to either.

So my question was more about whether there might be a single message that could resonate with both camps, one that a single messenger could pull orr, or whether ne'er the twain shall meet.
