Searle Sennett> Maybe so, but to me, as an outsider, what's going on in the US at the moment is really bad.

You're witnessing the world's once greatest democracy de-evolve into a 1984ish facist nightmare (I'm sure it looks horrible from the outside). Actually, as I look back on my life, I wonder if this whole "democracy" thing has just been a sham all along?!? I mean, the wealthy elites have controlled both major parties (which have changed names a few times) since the founding of this country. Sure, sometimes things have ebbed in favor of the small guy like in the 1930s and 1960s, but all in all the big boys have kept their hand on the throttle of democracy and not let it get out of hand. One thing most Americans don't realize is that there's nothing in the Constitution that says that the House of Representatives has to have only 435 members. If the elites really wanted an inclusive democracy, I think they'd expand the House to 1,000+ members. But, that's not what they want. You have to read between the lines.
