Stephen, I'm a card carrying conservative activist and I don't like Bush, but more than that, I do not favor neoconservatism and neocolonialism. Unfortunately the folks in charge in the US - ranging from Cheney to Wolfowitz to Feith to Rumsfeld to ... the list is too numerous to continue - do. While many Canadians have an instinctive distrust of the American government, far fewer actually dislike Americans. There is a difference. Family ties in some parts of Canada are quite strong, as seems every other person is American. No, I think if Canadians were exposed to the reality of the world situation and America's role in it, they would be less supportive of those - like Bush and his crew - who are ratcheting things up a notch further.
