My guess is that human cases are under-reported, but the virus still hasn't achieved efficient human to human transmission. However, there is panic in Thailand from the hundreds of dead pigeons

Two schools have closed and there has only been one reported human death (last month). The amount of virus circulating appears to be quite high and a new crop of migrating birds will provide many opportunities for more recombination

I expect more examples of human to human transmission this season and a full blown pandemic would NOT be a surprise.
