I believe that the revaluation of most currencies v the USD has had a dampening effect on world-wide inflation. I have no experience of the US market of 20 years ago so I can't even hesitate an opinion. My interest in the REIT index is purely technical but I have been watching it for some years and I see that it has been going up steadily for quite some time. As an investor, I believe there's a lot to be said for "going with the flow" or "let the trend be your friend" but, if one wants to play this game, one has to watch for the turn which is not always easy to see. Nevertheless, the REIT is still one of the better performing US indices and in a market which is becoming harder and harder to play.
