I do think the politics of archaeology is interesting. Such a conservative science . . . most archaeologists will bend over backwards and totally twist things or ignore evidence if it doesn't fit their preconceptions.

Do you remember the interesting discussion, I think it was here at Feelies, about the Bay of Jars off the coast of South America. You know, the old Roman jars, suggesting that there was very wide trade earlier than supposed. I love stuff like that . . . I wonder if there is anything new on this story. I will look it up when I have more time.

And I am still reconsidering what I really believe about the role of Neanderthals vs. modern man, as more evidence becomes available.
