Skype booming: 36,438,260 downloads and on 28 October at 6.47pm SI time there were 30,237,617 downloads of Skype. skype.com

That's 6.2 million downloads in 22 days, give or take a few.

That's 11,740 per hour, day in day out, up from 10,000 per hour 3 weeks ago.

Which means we have exponential growth [as expected]. This is a network effect on Metcalfe's Law in a big, big way. mgt.smsu.edu

This is going to be very, very big time.

There is a grand prize for the person who can guess when the 50 million download mark will be reached. [Jon Koplik surely can't be so accurate again = having won the Nokia vs QUALCOMM market capitalisation contest so precisely].

PS Skype is doing better that sars and H5N1. Even including birds, the download rate for H5N1 is not so impressive as Skype. That shows that people are better than birds and viruses [so far anyway, subject to change without notice].
