In the final analysis, how bright someone seems is pretty subjective. I agree that Condi is reasonably well educated, and she isn't mentally retarded or anything, but she she seems intellectually inflexible, and narrow and unimaginative in her thought processes. You know, the classic overachiever who works extremely hard and is very focused is but not terribly creative. I have never heard her say anything really interesting.

Interesting.

On what basis do you make such a sweeping statement?

Have you read her books and articles?

Have you followed her speeches and statements? Her career?

Do you not consider the fact that the President's security advisor's role is a fairly circumspect one whose nature keeps the actor fairly quiet?

Have you followed the path of her thinking enough to make such a judgment?

I haven't, so I'm not commenting one way or the other. It would surprise me, however, that she would have "unimaginative thought processes" and be able establish the career path which she has established.

I don't know enough about her to comment intelligently. It would be nice [but impossibly naive] for others to admit to the same level of ignorance. However, if you do in fact have the background data and the research to back up these grand generalizations, by all means share them. Otherwise, it seems to me that what you say is basically an impression. And we all have impressions. Some are worth more than others, especially if they can be solidly backed up.

I haven't seen anything here or elsewhere for that matter, suggesting that Rice is inflexible, narrow, and "unimaginative in her thought processes," as you suggest. It's a hell of a judgment to make about anyone, unless you are prepared to defend it.
