Well he got stupid at 4:20 this afternoon. I missed him from my stand as he was chasing a doe. I got down to make sure I had missed even though I was sure I had.

Flinched. Must be getting old.

Anyhow I wandered slowly over his line of escape finding nothing when I hear a deer grunting. I dropped to one knee against a tree and here came wonder boy trying to find that doe again. About 50 yards out he saw me and tried to flee and failed. 2 shots at 50 yards running in the woods with a 20ga and both hit the lungs and heart. I must say I'm proud of myself as that is pretty good shooting.

Never mind the fact that I missed to begin with:)

I have a cousin who is a game warden in MT. He said us eastern folks have accidents because our guns are supposed to be unloaded. Even though you are supposed to treat every firearm as if it's loaded he said guns out here are unloaded and cased and hidden, etc. so people assume a gun is unloaded. He said from diaper age on in the west children are taught to treat every gun as if it's loaded because it most likely is. Makes for a whole different mind set when you truly feel you are dealing with a loaded weapon even though it shouldn't.

As for rule #2, unloaded with action open or not if I get a site of the business end of a gun, I'm gone. I'm not one for hanging around the gun dept at sporting good stores for just that reason.
