I have great difficulty seeing Greenspan as anything other than a self-serving SOB.

I have read most of his earlier writings (which were not couched in the turgid nonsense he spews these days), and it is perfectly clear that he knows where his actions are taking the USA. The only good news is that his actions might, in the end, also bring about the demise of the Fed itself. (One can only hope).
