SNIP-All indications are that the combined company would not have a problem rationalizing its real estate because of the current searing market for retail locations.

Another holding that may make its way to the auction block, according to early speculation from market sources, is the Lands' End Inc. unit at Sears.

The clothing company has yet to post much growth at Sears, which paid almost $2 billion for the catalog company two years ago. In the new combination, Kmart clothing lines, such as Joe Boxer and Jaclyn Smith, may start popping up on Sears' shelves, squeezing out the conservative khakis and plaids of Lands' End.
