If the perp is armed, which you didn't specify, one would be justified in using force to stop him from robbing the woman. You must reasonably believe that the perp will harm or kill the woman, yourself, a bystander, or someone else. You can't just shoot people because they are purse snatching, although it is an outwardly appealing solution it is not a good one.

If the perp is not armed, I believe you should make an attempt to prevent the robbery, and you would be justified in using your firearm to hold him until police arrive.

I believe that the right to defend one's self and others is a natural law. Firearms are the mode of last resort, and there is no glory in using them even for the noblest of purposes--only sorrow and regret.

I am not a firearms expert, nor have I ever used firearms in anger. I am NOT making recommendations, nor am I qualified to make them. I guide my life by principles that I believe are well-founded, and I'm relating my principles to you.
