I think of all Middle Easterners, Iranians understand America best. When the Shah was in power, many Iranians came here as students, and many of those stayed here and became US citizens. They go back and forth quite a bit, visiting family, bringing money home to the ones who stayed.

They are quite Westernized. Well, so are Lebanese and Turks, but I still think Iranians are the most Westernized Middle Easterners I've met.
