>>I got 3.9% loan on a Prius a couple of months ago and the dealer told me that the US subsidizes the vehicle at about $10k each. Unbelievable technology for $25k and when gasoline goes to $5/gal... Getting 46 mpg currently...<<

What did you pay for the Prius, like $30k or something?

I just bought a 1997 Civic HX stick-shift from a family member for blue-book value of $8k, and getting consistently 37-38 mpg. Looks nice, very pleasant to drive.

Hard to see how a Prius could be a better buy ever, under any plausible scenario for gas prices. Even with the subsidy, they're just too darned expensive for the benefit they offer.
