Friday August 29 9:49 AM EDT RESEARCH ALERT- National Media upgraded NEW YORK, Aug 29 (Reuter) - Rauscher Pierce Refsnes Inc analyst George Sutton upgraded National Media Corp (NM) to market performer from a market underperformer, the firm said. Shares rose 1/4 to 5-3/8. Said National Media has obtained $20 million in convertible financing to stave off liquidity concerns. ``Many issues remain, but the company's life will be able to continue.'' Concerns include increased overseas competition, domestic market media costs above break-even levels for many products and a lack of predictibility about profitability. The Philadelphia-based company is the world's biggest producer and marketer of products using infomercials. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (although in this market now, "market performer" may be a curse ;-}) --John
