sandintoes, Even if you never need to use a gun, it is good to know about them, and how to use one, just in case.

I would also suggest that, if you get a pistol, you should go to a range and do some target practice. Those places are in just about every average, to large, city in most of the country, and it can be a lot of fun to see how well you can do. Shouldn't take any hip shots though. Unless you've had a lot of practice at that, the shell can go anywhere.
