Iqbal, et al. - FYI interesting Tidbits:

1. Stock fund inflows increased 60% in July from $16.6B in June to $26.5B making it the second biggest inflow (Jan was the best at $29B). That's lot's of latent buying power ready to pounce. Bond/income funds increased inflows 50% in July.

2. Gas prices are up 7.5cents/gal average. These increases didn't make it into last months PPI & will therefore make next PPI report less glamorous.

3. GDB revised up to 3.6% from 2.2%. Big increase but bond traders expected bigger leading to yesterday's bond rally.

4. M2 supply increased $15B for week of Aug 18. Efficient market proponents would say the increase is already reflected in stock prices but the "other" school of thought would say the increase typically precedes an increase in stock prices and that the lag time is getting shorter all the time.

5. Merrill outgoing lead computer industry analyst said on Nightly Bus report that IBM was definitely a buy at current levels.

All the best,

mark

PS (edit): IBM Oct 105 calls seemed like a very good deal this AM at 4 1/8 - 4 3/8.
