Bush is the public office holder, not his team.

I disagree - I think many of the President's team are public office holders, serving the public

President Bush and VP Cheney are elected public office holders, the others are in appointed positions

I would expect many serving in the diplomatic core do have advanced degrees, along with years of service and experience in various branches of government

saying Dr Rice is the most academic member in foreign affairs team doesn't discount anyone else's educational achievements or background

only that Dr Rice has a full rich background associated with and in academics

I don't think that is pathetic or that everyone serving the public needs a doctorate
