My great great grandfather spent $180 to outfit a platoon of men from Atlanta, Illinois to fight in the Mexican - American War. They stole Santa Anna's wooden leg. In return gggfather was given a half section of land from both Presidents Polk and Tyler. I still have the land and the documents.
