The only reason why fewer US troops are getting killed in Afghanistan than in Iraq is that there are a lot fewer of them in the former country. And unlike in Iraq, most of the troops are stationed in the capital, protecting its puppet mayor, Karzai. About the opium trade, the cultivation was almost shut off in 1999. Now it is booming. Osama won't complain about it though -- it is 60 percent of the economy now, and generates a great deal of revenue that can be used to buy weapons of all kinds.
