I read a very long article analyzing the form of the word state that Osama used, and Arab scholars quoted were absolutely sure he was using the word form which referred to states in the United States. I am too tired now to find the article, but I am sure a web search would do it.

The last tape was not totally analyzed for quite a long time, and the word about what he actually said just trickled out.

Your post seems really militaristic--"The US is one nation and it belongs to the people willing to fight for it." Fighting is not the most reasoned response to the world's problems every time. The U.S. chose to side with zionist Israel in the Middle East, and decades later Palestinian resentment has bred region-wide terrorism that may be about to engulf the entire world. Al Qaeda rose out of the Palestinian injustice, a reaction to our own actions in the region. 911 didn't just happen out of the blue. Not everyone in America believes that destroying Iraq was the right thing do to in response to it.

Beyond that, I think the easiest thing to do at this point would be for everyone who is in what they feel is the wrong color state to switch places. The two philosophies are so divergent that maybe we all shouldn't stay together. I think all the red state militarism is going to get me killed, and red state people seem to think that blue state values are going to destroy them, so what really is wrong with dividing the whole mess up?
