Gays are in the minority and in this case the government listened to their case and will make a decision.

Gays are seeking parental approval from the government for conduct most of their heterosexual parents , and many in society would not approve of or give them.

There are still lots of minorities. Those who want to carry guns in cities, those underage kids who want to drink. those who want to drive faster than the speed limit, those who want to eliminate all guns or stop lumber harvests.

The government listens to all these people through our elected representatives in Congress.

Government does not set out to eliminate minorities or make their voice equal to others.
They will try to protect the majority from the bad effects of minorities or discourage them from acting in a destructive manner.

Penalties are applied to minorities thru law.

Carry a gun in the city and pay a fine or go to jail.
Speed on the streets and same thing applies.
Underage drinking, drinking while driving, resisting arrest.Wife beating, non-support. All carry penalties.

Gays are lucky, got off easy, did not get penalized in any special manner.
