Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought Greenspan was too tight on monetary policy his first couple of terms in office, helped bring about a much worse downturn from the S&L debacle and kept Bush Sr from a second term. Bringing the budget deficit down, very low inflation and initial steep productivity gains from the information age made his job easy in the mid 90's as he was transforming himself into easy Al.

<However, once we got Greenspan in charge, the many headed hydra of monetary ruin soon popped up its ugly heads. Fortunately, we had two fiscal and tax conservatives as Prez while Greenspan was trying to destroy America.>
