>> This is quite inflammatory and really unnecessary.
You are right on this. Being diplomatic is not something I have concerned myself with often. It does lead to some interesting discussions though, like the one I had a while back with Nadine where she ended up actually defending Palestinians for a brief moment. I used the word "dislike" deliberately. I do not hate any nation or think of any of them as "evil" or a menace to the civilization as it seems to be the case with many writers we read from these days. I should also say that I am sincere and given sufficient evidence to the contrary, I happily change my mind.
>> I know several Jews who feel for the Palestinian people. The oppression Palestinians are under is deplored by them.
So do I, though none on these boards. BTW, in the interest of fairness, I've had some good experiences with Arabs as well, but hardly with the middle eastern Arabs. My contacts with Moroccans, Tunisians, (and to my surprise, Syrians) has been very good. Egyptians have been 50:50. Lebonanese, mostly good. Palestinians, never. Ditto for Saudis and all the Persian Gulf Arab states. In the end, it is not how you feel about a people but what you do that matters.
>> By the way what is the source for the quotes you used for you post about soldiers in the Philippines?
Those particular quotes came from here geocities.com You can access the main page here geocities.com I've used many sites on this topic in the past. Fortunately, because the war was in the 20th century, there are plenty of photos and newspapers from that time that provide the perspective of the day in tact rather than rewrite the history decades later. A little googling will get you a lot :-)
