I'm not sure you CAN be a fundamentalist and have an opt out clause for people who don't agree with you. The whole point of being fundamental, and absolutist, is that there IS no disagreement- you have the truth, and because you have it, you can do everything you need to do (as you perceive need) in service of your truth. Having an opt out clause would be kind of like God going to Sodom and saying "OK, everyone who wants to opt out of being destroyed, off you go now, for the rest of you old testament types, hold still while I smite you..."

And yes, it's a real problem, all over the world.
