I think if fundamentalists controlled our government you might see more killing. Right now I would say that our constitution tenuously holds fundamentalists at bay- but that could change, and if it does, I don't even want to speculate on how bad this country could get. IMO fundamentalists already sort of control our government, and they have given us Iraq (which, it is clear, they thought of in terms of a "crusade"- if you remember the early language.) I agree that there is no point to debating abortion. You're either for abortion rights or against them, and it always comes down to a matter of core beliefs, which you really can't argue, anymore than you can argue why you are a Jew, or a Christian or a Moslem.
