What a corrupt individual Powell has become. It's sad really.
I don't think it pertinent to put the blame on any single individual... Secretary of State C. Powell did his best to be the voice of reason in the madhouse that's been the Bush administration ever since 911. However, on such crucial issues as the Middle East and Israel, it's not up to one executive, not even the Prez, to rock the boat of US foreign policy...
The real, fundamental problem lies in the troubling fact that, for millions of Americans (mainly in the South), Israel is their political beau ideal, the utopian city on the hill the US ought to emulate... Now, what is Israel? Is it just another country, another nation-state like, say, Switzerland??? Nope: it's a diverse polity, to be sure, a society made up of several minorities of different hues and shades yet all subordinated to the Jewish caste --a country where one ethnoreligious caste reigns supreme and benevolently casts its lights supon lesser breeds... So long as the latter submit to such a master-slave relationship, the better for them but if the lower castes ever rebelled against the divine order, forgetful of their proper place in the whole scheme of things, then... Curse on them!!! Then the regime shows its real, genuine colors and ugly face....
