Lou,

I have read over the article on Freecall. Another great move by DCI! I am sure that most people do not know that all calls made in the UK are charged by the minute, even to your neighbor next door. This program will allow you to call anywhere in the UK for free anytime of day. The program is simple. The user will call an access number to get into the system then dial the person they wish to speak to. About every 30 seconds or so the call will be interrupted by an advertisement from a vendor. It is the participating vendors that pay for the call, not the user. The ads run from 5 to 10 seconds each after every 30 seconds of talk. You can talk as long as you like there is no time limit on these calls. They are also working on going international with this program cutting BT's cost by as much as 50%. The service will be free to subscribers for the first 3 months then there will be a 20 to 30 pound yearly charge. The advertisers will pick up the tab for the phone usage. If I understand things right we get a small cut of the advertisers fee as well as the yearly dues from the subscribers. This type of program is already in use in Sweden by another company and has gotten great results. I will try to dig out more information if I can.
