Its been a while since there was a real scandal, although all of the last 4 years has been scandalous to be sure. Funny, the serious scandals seem to happen on Republican watches. Sorry sex scandals for no money don't rank high on the serious scale for me.

I was laid up in bed for months during Watergate recovering from bad burns - I'm 43 now so you can figure out for yourself that I was too young to be seriously amused by Liddy, Hunt, Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Nixon and the rest of them. Ticked me off - no cartoons, just boring liars.

Although it is amusing that Liddy is now seen as fit to be a Bush / party mouthpiece. A disgrace to the FBI and convicted criminal as a host of Crossfire - was sure I'd tuned into a Saturday Night Live skit or something.

Mind you it not just Republican's that have done nasty things, was it? The Bay of Pigs was planned under Eisenhower but authorized under Kennedy. Truman, a Democrat, dropped the bomb on Japan, twice, but yet Ike, a Republican, was against it. And multi-party fingers all over Vietnam and Cambodia.

Is religion a factor? Bush II, a Methodist, is keen to beat foreign peoples into submission even if he has to kill a bunch to do so; sounds a lot like McKinley, also a Methodist, who was bound and determined to make Filipinos love the American way even if he had to kill half of them to get to that goal (and they tried, in his day, just that tactic).

Just goes to show that labels are not very revealing. Actions speak.
