In the crash of 87, the drop in Newmont was related to a takeover...it was temporarily halted going into thursday, friday...I vaguely recall making a killing with a put position, but it was do to a court decision and liquidity failure during the crash...I do not think this was representative of golds in general..BWTFDIK...

You may want to check the related news around October 18th,1987 which happens to be my wife's birthday..so this is engraved in stone..sort of speak... ;)
