Searle,

From the Reuters article: "It's a fact of American history that our founders were religious men, and to hide this fact from young fifth-graders in the name of political correctness is outrageous and shameful," said Williams' attorney, Terry Thompson.

They say that you can never trust a lawyer, and Thompson is proof of this. The great preponderance of written text from the Founding Fathers of the U.S. indicate that they were men of the "Enlightenment" where Deism was the predominant fashion.

Thompson is lying. Period. The founders of the U.S. were sensible, secular and smart. Unlike modern day Born-Again lunatics, the "Founding Fathers" of the U.S. were for the most part sensible "deists". I.e. they were akin to modern day agnostics.
