Sarmad,

Lately flash prices have been falling much faster than HDD prices. Just bot a 1GB flash card for $45. As a flash investor, how concerned should I be? Or should I greet this development with enthusiasm knowing that a cornocopia of new consumer apps awaits and that price elasticity of demand may be high.

For example, Sandisk has just announced CF cards in 4GB and 8GB capacities and Apple is said to be getting ready to introduce a flash iPod. I assume it will be cheaper, smaller, have greater battery life, and probably be even more profitable then the present generation of iPods they will replace. I have also noticed that Sandisk has just come out with a "Photo Album" that will store 2,000 photos on a mere 256MB CF card and comes with a remote control for viewing these photos on a TV. Could be a hit this holiday season. [Digital Photos Instead Of Fruitcake

It is indeed a "technologically more unstable" industry than HDDs. Maybe that is what makes it "interesting" for me.
