Animal rights
or
Logic and common sense

It is an interesting topic to those who live in the new land or those that would like to make that claim. I can briefly cover the past by stating that my great-grandfather and yours might have felt quite comfortable hanging someone for stealing cattle, feel free to deny it, I won't, it is the future that holds potential. The fact that humans were worth less than horses just a few generations ago, and in some countries they are worth less than guitars, isn't really about animal rights, it is about the value of a human life.
There was only one Star Trek movie made that didn't have someone getting killed. It was a script written in part by Leonard Nimoy and Gene Rodenberry. The movie is the most popular and the highest grossing Star trek movie of all time. The movie was popular because it was light, comedic and contained a very serious threat to the entire planet that was averted by helpful mammals. Since you managed to get yourself banned from Feelies for the depth of your conviction on this issue I am going to post a quote from one of my favourite future thinkers. Once I have done that I would like to see you trash his logic because he obviously considers these mammals a "race" and your point is that they are "animals" and not worth one "hairless human mammal".

"To hunt a race to extinction is not logical"

...the villains are faceless: the international hunters who continue to pursue and massacre...

I am guessing that the pissed aliens who came looking for a certain type of mammal wouldn't have accepted an Arlo Guthrie song, but it would have been worth a try.
