Ray,

You don't think Canada gets a free ride when China and Japan are the ones buying US debt which, you say, is what goes to fund the military?

So by divesting or holding buy not accumulating US debt do those other nations feel safer or will they buy US arms? Does Canada put on some facade of helicopters that spend more time in the ocean and taking submarines out of museums as if the US doesn't notice. Why bother at all? Do the politicians get a warm fuzzy?

Also, since Canada gets a disproportionate share of US defense spending I guess it is the ROW that subsidizes Canada. I wonder if Canada takes the US it criticizes, the US it doesn't want to be like, and gets that replaced by China or Russia, how that would turn out?

As always, be careful what you wish for.
