Yes, Idaho too, eastern Washington and Oregon, all the way through to Alaska [the SIer Snowshoe has bugkill near him in AK] .... actually the range of mountain pine beetle extends south to México, i think, but southern stands of pine tend to be more isolated from each other, so spread is not as explosive ... in BC it's huge, over 4,000 square kilometros effected annually
There's lots of ignorance on the part of the public, for sure .... more than enough among some players in the industry, as well, and way too much pig-headed greed on both sides, for getting what they want .... doesn't bode well for the species, when you listen to much of what passes for 'debate' on the matter
