It's not all that "subjective" a thing when somebody purses their lips and makes a mocking imitation of a woman who's about to die ("Please don't kill me!"), putting in her mouth words she didn't say, incidentally.

The "witness" you mention can only say she didn't hear that exchange, not that it didn't happen -- and she happens to be a paid Republican operative!

I think your drive to deny the report of that Republican journalist (a report which the National Review accepts, and it's they who describe him as Republican and positive about Bush, not I) is just proof that you know it's ugly and callow, and makes a joke of Bush's claim to be a "compassionate conservative."

in the hope of coming up with something (anything) to embarrass the president.

Now THAT is a genuine Laugh Out Loud line! Like, it's SO HARD to find anything embarrassing about Bush. Shall I post some items to show you it's not exactly a challenge?

This is not about 'embarrassing,' which is Bush's middle name. (But the fact that you see it that way is interesting.)

And it's your habit to deny whatever you deem inconvenient to accept. You still think we had to throw the Japanese American citizens into concentration camps, rob them, impoverish them, malnourish them, give them inadequate medical treatment, in some cases break up families, hold them in undignified, miserable (thirty degrees below zero in the winter, burning hot in the summer) hovels, shoot them if they tried to escape ... because you think that perhaps the FBI, Army Intelligence and the Justice Department and the several-year Munson report (which was btw corroborated by Navy Intelligence) saying that Japanese Americans were VERY loyal were wrong.

Background re Tucker:
What startled people most about Bush's not commuting her sentence wasn't that fact itself, and that he spends no more than fifteen minutes on commutation appeals (sometimes a little as four minutes) ... but that he mocked the condemned woman, pursing his lips and whimpering as if in imitation of her, "Please don't kill me!"

I find that mean and repulsive. I think Bush doesn't understand a great many things about life and death.

R.D.! You seemed to have overlooked your role of denial! Instead, you've just ignored the point (my post was a response to a post specifically about Bush's "character,") instead simply retrying a case as though Bush's callow, nasty character were not the issue. Just an oversight, I'm sure.
