Of course it's a ridiculous Straw Man argument you are trying out. You asked me "as we 'help our neighbors around the world', are we to assume you would, or would no,t protect your own family OR your neighbor?" Before that you asked "and if while helping your neighbor, they are attacked, or your family is attacked...you let them be slaughtered??" (I believe you possibly meant by the phrase 'while helping your neighbor', attacking some nation somewhere in the world... assuming of course that 'attacking' equals 'helping' always....) My answer, then and now, was: OF COURSE NOT, I would not 'let my family be slaughtered' or my friendly neighbor be attacked without coming to their assistance.... You quoted the Bible to me... and I pointed out that that passage didn't say ANYTHING about going out in the world and actively slaughtering 'neighbors'.... There are MANY ways to 'help' people. I'm certainly not excluding waging war from that list, but it is also not the only method of 'helping' people. I'm quite sure that Jesus never said anything of the sort.
