Things get really confused on this thread (which is why I find it so charming and why I like to post here for as long as you tolerate me).

First, to the best of my knowledge, I have never advocated teaching Christianity in our schools here or anywhere else. My "blind spot" reference was not to religion or whole belief systems (which wouldn't seem to me to be suggested by "spots"; it is hard to reduce a belief system to a mere "spot") This is a clear case of mountains being made out of molehills. When I made that comment, just off-handedly, I had in mind my long-standing debate with E on an entirely different topic that coincidentally has now barged into to your thread.

Um, however, on Christianity and schools, I do believe that it is part of our heritage, and that vestiges of it should be permissible in schools, such as decorations or the singing of carols. Indeed, I hope there will continue to be a Christmas holiday for the kids. I'll bet all kids hope so, too.
