Martians invade Maple Street. Remember that "Twilight Zone" show?
It wasn't the Martians that destroyed the citizens of Maple Street, it was just the threat that brought out the worst traits in people and caused the residents to destroy each other. The analogy to 911 is simple: we were attack and initially had the strength and sympathy of the world on our side. We have succumed to the lowest denominator of human behavior namely greed, lies, bloodlust. We have lost over 1200 brave US soldiers. The attack didn't destroy us, but like the citizens of Maple Street we are slowly destroying ourselves and others (like Iraqi citizens).

I'm also sick and tired of the right-wingers acting like the liberals have no balls. Frankly I think the right has no balls. It doesn't take much strength to attack a weaker country (Iraq). That's something a bully does. If the US could actually find its balls they would cut off the US's dependence on foreign oil (which is the real money machine for terrorism) and find an alternative to fossil fuels.
