I also agree that the rule of law should prevail around the world and then we could all live in peace.......
however that is silly....most countries on the planet rule by force and political chicanery...it is the way things are, it is still tribal...

What I have been trying to get people to see is that tribalism has little to do with it. You don't have to convince the world to love America more than their own country or to have greater allegiance to some form of world governing body than to their own elected government for things to move in the right direction. Tribalism can live fine for many years to come. All we have to do is to convince the world (and ourselves) that it is in everyone's selfish interests to establish and fallow the international law.

To "prevail" we have to establish laws and enforcement methods that everyone (or at least a good number of nations) agree to adhere to. The world will simply resist "American Law"; they will want a say in it too. I have seen absolutely nothing that suggests US is walking in the right direction with this regards.

it is , in large part, the USA that has caused these changes, our technology created the computer, our economic savvy and capitalism created its widespread use...

I set up my first Internet server in late 1988. In those days Internet was a cooperative system and I was a major node for a good chunk of Ontario. I am very much aware of the changes that have taken place and continue to take place and can sincerely tell you that many (most?) policy makers are unaware of how disruptive this technology is.

BTW, my personal opinion is that the window of opportunity that opened up with the fall of USSR and the creation of what I call the golden era of Internet (unrelated but equally important events) will close within 5-10 years. If we don't have it right by then, good by American leadership.
