No one seems to follow this thread! I was wondering if anyone had shorted CEF and bought GLD when it was offered. The premium on CEF seems to have been knocked down to about 3.6 %, almost making it a buy again.

I think GLD is such a success that it is bound to be enlarged and others launched. They are perfect for IRAs unless the IRS deems them "collectibles" for that purpose as well as for long terms capital gain tax treatment. This should take much gold out of the trading market and send the price way up until more can be produced.
