Never underestimate the value people put on good weather!

I would tell my California friends what they could buy in my area and they'd say something like, "I guess no one wants to live there." implying that there must be something wrong with where I live. I live in paradise in comparison. They act as though there is some sort of status in overpaying. I think because it has cost them so much to live there, people don't want to admit that it isn't worth it, so they develop this attitude that life in CA is superior to anywhere else. Same could be said to those who live in NYC. Two places which are wonderful places to live if you are already wealthy but difficult to impossible for those with incomes that approach the national median.
