"The fact is that it was a public post, to which a number of those who responded negatively were banned from posting here. By Grainne."
This is simply untrue, Poet. I don't want to reopen any wounds, but must take exception to your statement because it challenges my basic integrity. All opinions are welcome at Feelies. I would never, ever ban someone because they disagreed with me. In fact, if I did that there would be dozens of people banned now, and I see them all still here, expressing their feelings freely.
Banning people is something I don't even like; unfortunately it seems necessary. SI has become like the Old West or something, a really uncivil, lawless place. In any event, the banning process is entirely transparent, done in public. Anyone can read the posts that seem objectionable, and anyone can read my responses to them, make comments, etc.
For the record, I banned exactly two people during that recent ugly firestorm--Ben Wobbles and Augustus Gloop. They both wrote posts that involved name calling--posts that were particularly objectionable. I would have banned them on language alone, regardless of who they were addressed to, or who they attacked. |
