Whether anyone likes it or not I am nominating myself for the post of the day! Laugh, make fun but I've never been more serious. Today is like Christmas come early for me. Whether or not anyone else can grasp the historic sports value - I don't care
Favre is the embodiment of Lombardi, Halas, Baugh, Lambeau, Hutson, Butkis, Landry, Montana, Rice, Payton, Brown, Marino, Unitas, Shula, Namath and many more. Just the utterance of his last name evokes a historic response from people who appreciate football greats and legends. When old age has replaced the days of my youth, I and countless others will remember and recount for our children and grandchildren his greatness and perseverance in the same way our fathers and grandfathers told us about Ruth, Cobb and Gehrig. Today, regardless of game outcome, is a day that will live in sports infamy. A true Icon and living legend of the game will perform a job he has done for 200 consecutive games. It is with all sincerity that I admit I currently have tears rolling down my face as I write this. I have decided to hell with school - I am taking my 5 year old boy to this historic event. It's a day I will never forget and its a day that he will never value until he is old enough to realize what he witnessed. Even then it wont be until he has children of his own, and I am taking a dirt nap, that he'll realize what today means to me!
