I think when we buy a book, we are endlessly optimistic. After all, getting lost in one is one of the best pleasures of life, one we want to repeat endlessly. So many characters, ideas, exotic worlds, so little time . . .
I read a book review in last week's Newsweek, and the idea was slowing time down. Turning off the tv, the computer, experiencing the world in a very earthy, sensual way by taking lots of walks, following Rudolf Steiner's idea that children should really not learn to read until they are seven.
I have the magazine at home and don't remember the name of the book, but it sounded good, and would of course allow a lot more time for reading.
I will post it to you if I can find it. I thought the ideas were very good, just what most of us need. |
