Vanni, Are you implying that Corel Management is Up, Up & Far Away? I think you and A. Hayer are both correct. Corel's technology capability is superb. This can be evidenced by their continued leadership in graphics software, and by their achievement of a clearly superior office suite with Suite 8. (I've used both Office 97 and Suite 8 to detect the differences. So I render this opinion based on usage.)
But you and many others, including Leo, Tom, and yes, Stephen, are correct in saying that today's opportunities for profits lies in Windows. Therefore, management must focus on convincing the computing public, corporate and retail, that their Suite is the industry standard. I certainly hope Corel Central ices the cake.
Corel's debacle with Java has not been in the development of it, or in even revising their approach, it has been very poor communication. And this same problem seems to permeate their marketing, advertising, and promotion efforts.
As far as Java is concerned, I hope they tone down the talk on that subject including "Remagen," and start talking internally and externally about all the superior windows offerings, such as 16 or 32 bit, specialty suites, mac, unix, and even WP for Dos.
Up, Up, & Away!
